Since I have been going to the theater more often this year, I thought I would return to writing my thoughts on each film I see in theaters. The first film I am going to start with is the first ever live action adaptation of the popular video game franchise that has, over the years, expanded into an equally popular anime and card game. I am of course talking about Pokémon.
I had an awesome time seeing this film. While somewhat predictable, it was a lot of fun and, as a long time Pokémon fan, I enjoyed all the references to the franchise. Ryan Reynolds did an excellent job voicing the title character and the Pokémon themselves, especially Pikachu, looked great in this film's CGI realistic style.
This was easily the best live action video game adaptation from Hollywood so far. I hope this level of quality continues in future Hollywood live action video game and anime films. Though Sonic the Hedgehog has me worried, but that is a review for a future date.
